Downhole Gas Compression
Ground Breaking Technology
A potential 30-50% increase in natural gas recovery
Corac Group plc has applied its expertise in ‘No-Oil’ gas bearing technology to take its innovations to a different but potentially groundbreaking level.
There is a wide-ranging belief that the world is running out of natural gas. This is because current pipeline technology can only extract gas to a pre-defined downhole pressure in the gas reservoir. Once the available gas is extracted, the well becomes ‘watered-out’.
Working with Joint Industry Partners, Corac Group plc has used its established Industrial Air concept to develop a technological solution for the Oil and Gas Industry’s recognised problem of maximising gas from brownfield sites that could change the global viewpoint of the opportunities available from the gas extraction industry.
Downhole Gas Compression (DGC) is an entirely new powered artificial lift technology that will serve as yet an unrealised opportunity of extracting available gas from previously unextractable reserves.
The DGC technology increases both the production and recovery factors of gas and may be applied at any time during the life of the well. Due to the increased reservoir drawdown from the extended slim ‘No-Oil’ Downhole Gas Compressor it can work through the many phases of the well’s life. This offers an excellent solution for both producing wells and wells already suffering from liquid loading. It may also be used to extend the life of a gas field, hence delaying decommissioning.
Corac Group plc is currently trialling this technology which could increase production by 30 to 50% and will enable gas extraction from otherwise uneconomic sites.
A unique opportunity
Corac Group plc has combined its proven patented technologies from its expertise in other industrial sectors with further key innovations to develop a new groundbreaking concept in downhole gas extraction. The opportunity to enhance a wide range of gas assets will soon be available to gas operators worldwide.
Corac, the JIP and BakerHughes are keen to attract further gas operators interested in fields trials. Please contact us for further information.
