Corac
Corac is a technology and engineering company, marketing to established sectors in Air Compression and the Oil and Gas industry. We have developed a number of innovative products and hold 64 patents in micro turbo machinery.
We focus on high speed electrical direct drive turbo machinery, based on our unique expertise in gas bearings. We have created an innovative 'no oil' turbo compressor and a unique high pressure dry gas seal, and are developing our Downhole Gas Compressor as part of a Joint Industry Programme (JIP) for the gas extraction industry.
Products
Corac has developed three main commercial products:
Gas Seals: A licence for sales and manufacture has been signed.
Industrial Air: The market for this is large and Corac already has two contracts. The product is now being shipped.
Downhole Compression: This has a significant potential market and the first prototypes have been developed in ‘real’ test conditions.
Financial information
Corac is a UK-based trading company with 86m issued shares and a current market capitalisation of £10m. Our main shareholders are Gartmore, FIL Limited (Fidelity), Strathclyde Pension Fund, Majedie Investment Trust and AXA SA.

Current Projects include:
- In-house development of air bearing design tools.
- Debris isolating and filtration devices for contaminated gaseous flows.
- Coupled analysis techniques for stress and fluid flow behaviour.
- Bearing test rigs for orientation and stability studies.
- High temperature carbon fibre composites.
- Power Electronics for high temperature applications.
