Downhole Gas Compression In Natural Gas Wells
Corac has used its established Industrial Air concept to develop a technological solution for the oil and gas industry's recognised problem of maximising gas extraction from brownfield sites. As part of a cross industry team, Corac is now trialling the technology which will increase production by 30 to 50% and enable gas extraction from otherwise uneconomic sites by extending field life by up to 5 years.

Downhole Gas Compression (DGC) is an entirely new powered artificial lift technology that will serve an as yet unrealised opportunity within the gas extraction industry. The technology increases production and recovery factor even for wet wells. It may be applied at any time during the life of a well and will find particular favour during mid to late life. Due to the increased reservoir drawdown and its demonstrated multi-phase capabilities, it may offer an excellent solution for wells suffering from liquid loading. It may also be used to extend the life of a gas field and hence delay decommissioning.
Further details
With the work it has carried out to date, Corac has clearly demonstrated that by combining proven technologies from other industrial sectors with some key innovations, a new, game changing technology for production enhancement for a wide range of gas assets could soon be available to gas operators.
