Control of high performance systems over long distances and demanding environments

For demanding applications such as downhole gas compressors, offshore gas compressors and other gas well equipment, accurate and reliable control is essential.

Corac has the experience to develop high speed control protocols for highly complex systems, several kilometres underneath the earth’s surface and in hostile environments. This not only includes control of the overall machine but also the many individual system components.

In any machine process, controlling and monitoring dynamic conditions is essential. For innovative high speed compression systems, standard protocols and controls cannot provide sufficient feedback of conditions and performance. Corac has developed bespoke control processes and supervisory software to suit particularly demanding applications.

Features and Benefits:

  • Enhanced Direct Current (DC) delivery over long distances
  • Power electronics below surface level
  • Drive efficient over 4Km
  • Effective analysis and response system

Controlling high speed compressors

In high speed environments, changes in behaviour, stability and fault development can occur very rapidly. The auditing system must capture, analyse and respond to various signals generated by transducers and probes within the machine. Controlling high speed devices requires considerable sophistication and the process is typically software driven to produce sensitive and accurate analysis and response.

Corac has designed its software to be robust, simple and drives the control algorithms sufficiently quickly to be able to react swiftly and change the machine's behaviour. Additionally we have ensured that our software has the ability to cope electrical noise and interference that high speed machines can generate. The electrical noise and interference affects the feedback from machine sensors and monitoring systems, so Corac’s control devices are designed to be capable of differentiating real from corrupted data.
